Privacy
How your reading and private notes stay in your own hands.
Contemplative reflection requires a quiet room, including on a screen. This website does not use user accounts, tracking cookies, or analytics software. When you use the search page, your query is answered for that request alone without building a profile of what you read.
When you adjust reader settings (such as text size, paper theme, line width, or commentary visibility), bookmark a passage, or save a worksheet in The Second Column, that information is stored solely in your own browser’s local storage. It is never transmitted to our server. Clearing your browser data removes it, and using the export button saves a copy directly to your device so you can keep or move it as you wish.
Reading the book in the browser loads only the chapter and plates on that page. The full print PDF is fetched only if you explicitly choose to download it on the download page.
We do not sell or share personal data because we do not collect it. External links to university encyclopedias, laboratories, or publishers follow the privacy policies of those institutions.
